PromptVibes.com is a powerful resource that includes a database of existing prompts and a more importantly prompt generator tool that is worth checking out.
In previous AI for Lifelong Learner posts, I've stressed the importance of learning how to craft your prompts because only you know what you want from an LLM. However, sometimes having a reliable starting point is beneficial. This allows for easier understanding and customization according to your needs and the respective LLM’s requirements.
The service, promptvibes.com, is free with registration, with an option to subscribe later for $4.99/mo, which provides access to some advanced features. I think it's worth trying, especially when you have specific prompts you're struggling to create. Use the paid version for a month or so then turn it off. You have control over that.
Initially, navigating the site may seem odd, but with time, its extensive resources and insights into prompt creation become apparent and highly valuable. I find their newsletter helpful too with prompt tips and insights.
Why you want the power to analyze a bill yourself
Note: I'm not an attorney, and I'm not a legislative analyst, but I am a citizen, and I want an easier way to find answers to what is in these bills our politicians are writing. I ask myself, if I have all these tools at my disposal, why should I depend on radio, TV, and YouTube news for accuracy of reporting on issues important to me? I could just ignore it all, but that's not helpful when it comes to voting. I want to be informed.
My goal is to create a prompt (or series of prompts) I can use to analyze state and federal bills being proposed by our politicians. I have grown tired of relying on others to tell me 'their version' of what is being proposed. This way, I can call a politician's office with detailed feedback on aspects of a bill that I agree or don't agree with and why.
Let's jump in and have some fun.
Finding a bill to work with
Let's assume you are in Texas. As a starting point, you can view the most viewed Texas bills here: https://legiscan.com/TX. Do that and scroll down. Click on BILL TEXT and copy and paste the full text into the LLM you are using. To save some time, you can download SB17 relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at public institutions of higher education. Here is the link to access the full text directly https://legiscan.com/TX/text/SB17/2023.
Creating a prompt for analyzing bills (or laws)
So let's ask PromptVibes to give us some example prompts for analyzing bills, and laws, and yes, you can even use this process for understanding legal documents like Terms and Conditions. You should always remember that none of this is a substitute for using an attorney. But don't let that hold you back from being informed and learning new insights!
Here is what the Prompt Generator looks like in PromptVibes. You can see the rather weak attempt I made at giving it enough detail to elaborate further. The final prompt is quite useful showing the power of PromptVibes. You can take this and adjust as needed. I like the ability to instantly get another variation of the prompt. There is an education in studying these different examples!
Here is the full text below for your use:
You will serve as a legislative analyst. I am looking at a bill currently being proposed at a state or local level and need to understand its implications. Review the key points of the proposed legislation, including its objectives, potential impact on the community, financial implications, and any controversies or points of debate it may have sparked. Provide a balanced analysis that considers both the potential benefits and drawbacks of the bill, referencing similar legislation if applicable. Ensure your analysis is concise, objective, and informative, helping me to grasp the various aspects of the bill without displaying any political bias. If there are any critical pieces of information missing from the description of the bill that you need to conduct your analysis, please indicate what additional details are required.

Paste the above prompt into your favorite LLM and include the full text of the bill in a single prompt. Consider using Gemini.google.com or Perplexity.ai because those LLMs will provide more up-to-date information related to your prompt. Note: you can ask PromptVibes for multiple variations in their Prompt Generator or adjust the text to fit your needs and personal concerns!
What about the recent TIKTOK Ban Legislation?
If you're keen on digging into the details of the proposed legislation to ban TIKTOK in the USA, then visit this link for full text from the www.congress.gov site. Put the full text in your LLM and start asking questions. Again, Gemin.google.com, or Perplexity.ai if you want current information regarding the details of the bill. If you are just seeking to understand what the bill means to you, then any LLM will work.
Now for a less serious idea: how to find something new to watch on TV or streaming
Here is a prompt from PromptVibes that is useful in deciding what to watch on TV or streaming. It reads more like a description of a prompt, but that's okay. Paste it directly into a prompt window. The LLM will follow up with some questions to clarify in more detail what you want.
You are seeking recommendations for movies or TV shows that fit your specific tastes and interests, and you would like to find options on particular streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO Max, etc. You're interested in exploring content within your preferred genres, which could range from action, comedy, drama, sci-fi, horror, documentary, romance, and thriller, among others. Whether you're in the mood for a movie, a TV show, or open to either, you're looking for suggestions that align with your preferences.
Please provide details about your preferred era or year range if you have one, and mention the language of the content you're most comfortable with. If there are specific themes, topics, or genres you're particularly interested in, include those as well. Your rating preference, whether it's PG, R, or something else, will help narrow down the options to those that suit your viewing standards. If there are any other specific preferences or constraints you have in mind, such as a desire for critically acclaimed works, family-friendly options, or content that's suitable for binge-watching, please mention those too.
You can drop the entire text of the prompt as is, or modify it. If you are looking for action-packed movies available on Netflix, or if you're interested in exploring sci-fi TV shows on Amazon Prime, include those details to get tailored recommendations. This information will act as a guide for you to search on the streaming service's platform or through a search engine. It can also serve as a query in forums or social media platforms where movie and TV show recommendations are discussed. Feel free to adjust this prompt based on your current mood or interest, and modify or omit sections as needed to fit your preferences at the moment.
This what it looks like after the prompt is run. You are prompted for more information on what you want to see.
In summary, PromptVibes.com is a valuable resource for crafting effective prompts. For me, it helps me understand the structure of prompts that provide better results. In every process of building and testing prompts there is an iterative stage you go through with or without PromptVibes as a starting point, it’s worth keeping this in mind. There is no magic wand.
Whether you're looking to analyze legislation, find new movies and shows to watch or tackle any other task, PromptVibes provides a helpful starting point.
By studying the prompts it generates and customizing them to your specific needs, you can unlock the full potential of AI tools to inform yourself, expand your knowledge, and make your life easier. I think it’s a great tool for lifelong learners.
As always, feel free to reach out with any questions!

Tom:
Good stuff to know. Here's a sort of upside-down trick I use to create useful/reusable/customizable prompts ... Whenever you find a particular article, post, paper, explanation — any piece of writing, really — that you think is written particularly well on a given topic (movies to watch, explanations of particular pieces of legislation, etc.), copy and paste (or link to) it into ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini / Perplexity and preface it with this statement:
“Reverse engineer the prompt that could have been used to create this text:”
You can then re-use the resulting prompt — modified as needed — to create other similar-quality material.
Bill, I took your prompt and asked PromptVibes to create a version for us. Seemed like the right thing to do given we're talking about the post on PromptVibes. Here is it's answer:

Act as a reverse engineering expert specializing in text analysis. I will provide you with a body of text. Your task is to analyze the text and deduce the most likely prompt that could have led to its creation. Focus on identifying key themes, purposes, and any specific language or terminology used that could indicate the original prompt's intent. Provide a prompt that succinctly encapsulates these elements. Ensure that your suggested prompt is broad enough to have plausibly resulted in the provided text, but specific enough to reflect the nuances and particularities of the content. If the text is ambiguous or lacks clear indicators of its origin, request additional context to better inform your analysis
